If a study meets your eligibility requirements, retrieve the full text PDF, and then select include.
If the study is Open Access, you can immediately retrieve it with 1-click; otherwise, you or a teammate must find the study and upload the PDF.

1. Toggle from Abstract View to Full Text View. #
This can be done in both the Screening module and in Study Inspector.

2. Retrieve Full Text #
Open Access publications: One-Click Upload through Unpaywall #
To upload the full text when it is available, click on “Import” (red below). This enables you to automatically retrieve any full text article that is NOT behind a paywall. This button will be disabled when no open source text is found.

ClinicalTrials.gov Reports: One-Click Upload #
If the record is a ClinicalTrials.gov report, you may also click to generate and upload the report (purple above). This can be uploaded as a main full text, or as a supplement instead. If you upload it as a full text it’ll be displayed on the main full text tab. and if you upload as a supplemental material, it’ll be displayed in the supplements tab.
Subscription-based publication: Upload via Article Galaxy #
For articles behind paywalls, we offer an integration with Article Galaxy. Click “Access” (pink above) to purchase the article directly from their site and upload the pdf here. Alternatively, you can access the full text link for additional download options (blue above).
Our integration currently only allows for individual upload of articles via this method. For alternative options to bulk upload pdfs, see our Bulk Full Text Upload page.
Upload via Device #
If the full text is unavailable via Unpaywall or you don’t have access to Article Galaxy, you can upload pdfs from your device. Do this individually via “Upload Full Text” (orange above).
Nested Knowledge does not provide users with subscriptions to medical journals. To obtain article access, we recommend using services provided by your institution or contacting study authors.
Retrieval Status #
You may also wish to mark the Full Text Retrieval as “Pending” to communicate to other users so duplicative PDF retrieval does not occur.

These can be found later by filtering to Full Text Status: Pending. When a full text is uploaded, this tag is automatically removed.

3. View the Uploaded Full Text #
After you have obtained article access, upload the article from your local files and it will appear. Now you can include the study and move forward with your review!

Once you have uploaded FTs by any means, it will be attached to the matching record for the remainder of the modules unless removed.
