St. Paul, Minnesota / April 21st, 2026 / Nested Knowledge, a leading Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled platform for systematic literature review and evidence synthesis, and Elsevier, a global leader in advanced information and decision support, announced a partnership and technical integration today. The goals of this partnership and integration are to enable rapid, AI-driven literature synthesis, provide faster access to wider datasets, and ensure compliance with license and copyright requirements.

Through this collaboration, Nested Knowledge users will gain direct, integrated access to Embase, Elsevier’s comprehensive biomedical database for systematic literature reviews, drug safety monitoring and evidence-based research and practice. Specifically, licensees of the Embase Application Program Interface (API) will receive the ability to perform searches for systematic literature reviews, targeted reviews, health technology assessment (HTA), gap/landscape assessments, meta-analyses, and other review types via the human-in-the-loop workflow in Nested Knowledge’s platform. Embase API licensees will also obtain the right to use Nested Knowledge’s systematic review AI tools on Embase content to aid further review activities.

“Embase is the most comprehensive and carefully indexed database for published studies and conference abstracts,” said Kevin Kallmes, CEO and cofounder of Nested Knowledge. “It represents a must-have for truly systematic research, especially for regulatory, HTA, and publishing use cases. With this integration, experts can go from research questions to completed reviews and meta-analyses in a single system with confidence in the sources, compliance, and process for evidence synthesis.”

Mirit Eldor, Managing Director, Life Sciences Solutions, Elsevier, said: “Customers need flexible access to trusted data without disrupting the workflows they rely on. By making Embase available through Elsevier tools, customer environments, and selected third-party platforms like Nested Knowledge, we’re meeting customers where they work so they can move faster with confidence.”

The integration magnifies the value to users of both systems by streamlining the search drafting, execution, deduplication, and record management process, as well as enabling easy link-out to Embase for relevant records from within Nested Knowledge. On top of interoperability and straightforward data transfer, the integration ensures that living reviews on critical and complex topics can be performed and refreshed, driving more up-to-date, transparent, and comprehensive insights and synthesis.

The collaboration also positions both organizations at the forefront of the broader transformation underway in medical research toward immediate intelligence. This frontier of AI in evidence synthesis combines quality content and compliance with specialized, human-in-the-loop, traceable review automations. Systematic reviews support foundational parts of the healthcare ecosystem such as guidelines, healthcare decision-making, and technology evaluation.Especially as literature volumes increase, this partnership will enable the medical research community to discover and synthesize more complete, more extensive, and more rapid answers to pressing epidemiological, clinical, and health-economic questions.
