Title: Machine Learning Engineer  

Description:

Nested Knowledge is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to create the future of Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and Meta-Analysis in medical research. Nested Knowledge builds software for performing the core tasks in SLR: searching, screening, extracting, and synthesizing data from clinical research publications. Our AutoLit & Synthesis products structure these tasks for researchers in an intuitive, reproducible, and collaborative interface.

In this position, you would be responsible for building and improving algorithms and models assisting researchers in SLR tasks. Duties include translating user needs to ML problems, building datasets, implementing ML solutions, establishing and evaluating benchmarks, assisting in implementation and deployment of solutions, performing experimentation on solutions, and communicating results to leadership and the broader scientific community. Our small team values independent, creative thinking and a focus on the user.

Qualifications: 

This position requires:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • SQL and data wrangling skills 
  • Experience building algorithms and models for supervised and unsupervised tasks on text data
  • Understanding of inferential statistics and experimental design
  • Ability to write software collaboratively, including use of version control and other code sharing/review tools

Preferred Skills:

A strong candidate may have:

  • Experience deploying ML solutions in production environments
  • Experience working with medical research or academic literature & PDF-derived data
  • Familiarity with methods for model interpretability
  • Familiarity with few shot methods for named entity recognition & keyword extraction 
  • Equal parts excitement and skepticism of LLMs and Generative AI

Working Condition: Remote, Full-time. Nested Knowledge is a fully remote company and will always remain remote.

Location: We are a global team and welcome applications from employees globally, except for countries sanctioned by the U.S. Fluency in English is required and appropriate tax identification documentation for the country of residence must be provided. 

Compensation:  Salary in the range of $100,000 – $160,000 USD/year. Equity options may be available.
